Cleveland police have released surveillance footage of a drive-by shooting in which a 5-year-old girl and 16-year-old boy were injured two weeks ago.

The shooting happened in Cleveland's Midtown neighborhood near East 37th Street and Capers Avenue on March 12.

The video shows a passenger in a 2016 red Dodge Durango shoot at the children as it drives around the corner in front of them. The 5-year-old was shot in the leg, and the 16-year-old was shot in the chest. Both were taken to MetroHealth Medical Center for treatment. Both survived.

An older man using a walker is nearly struck by the truck as it drives away.

According to police records, the 16-year-old told police he was targeted by gang members because his brother is accused of killing a rival gang member, and the rival gang is seeking retaliation.

The boy told police he recognized the people in the Durango as members of a gang who go by "BG."

News 5 has chosen not to release the video of the teen and child being shot. Instead, we have posted a still frame showing the suspect and vehicle.
