Cleveland police are looking for a man who allegedly used pepper spray on a jewelry store owner last month on the city's east side.

Police said the assault happened inside a store at Asia Plaza, 2999 Payne Ave., on Jan. 31.

According to authorities, the jewelry store owner had just walked into his business when he was approached from behind by an unknown man who sprayed him in the face and head with pepper spray.

The suspect ran out of the store after the incident.

It's not unclear what prompted the man to spray the jewelry store owner. According to the police report, it appears the man was specifically waiting for the owner to show up.

Anyone who is able to identify the man or has information regarding the incident is asked to call police at 216-623-5318 or Crime Stoppers at 216-252-7463.
