We've been following the protests and other events happening in downtown Cleveland near Public Square and East 4th Street. Look below for updates from throughout the day.

7:27 p.m.
 
During the 7 p.m. briefing from the City of Cleveland, Reporter Tracy Carloss learned a police officer was punched by a protester while putting out the fire from the burning flag. Authorities had to use a fire extinguisher to not only put out the burning flag, but also to help several people who had caught fire.
Police Chief Calvin Williams said all arrested on Wednesday are in the booking process. Police are not releasing names of people arrested until they are charged.
 
7:10 p.m.
 
Cleveland police confirm 17 arrests total on Wednesday. Charges include felonious assault on police officer, failure to disperse, and resisting arrest. That brings the total number of arrests during the RNC, so far, to 22.

Crews near The Q said people are now being allowed out via East 4th Street.
 
5:19 p.m.
 
Kristin Volk reported three protesters from "Revolution Nothing Less" were arrested near East 4th Street and Prospect Avenue. 

4:58 p.m.

Cleveland police said at least 5 people arrested in connection with demonstrations so far on Wednesday.

4:54 p.m.

 

4:50 p.m.

Cleveland police reported two officers were assaulted and received minor injuries.

A dispersal order is in affect at East 4th Street and Prospect Avenue. 

WEWS crews near The Q said they can move closer to the East 4th exit, but can not leave yet.

4:37 p.m.

Individuals are being blocked from leaving the secure zone through East 4th Street due to security.

The Cleveland police's mounted unit has also been deployed for crowd control. 

2:25 p.m.

Donald Trump's helicopter lands outside the Great Lakes Science Center. He was greeted by his family and Indiana Governor Mike Pence. Watch the helicopter land here

2 p.m.

Donald Trump's plane lands at Burke Airport.

11 a.m.

"Wall Off Trump" protesters take over Public Square.

10 a.m.
