Cleveland police are investigating after two people were found dead inside a Tremont residence from an apparent homicide on Friday.

According to authorities, Harold Emery Jr., 63, was discovered in the bedroom with a gunshot wound to his head. Rita Berish, 54, was also discovered deceased under the bed with obvious signs of violence.

The bodies were found on the 3150 block of Scranton Avenue, which sits on the border of the Tremont and Clark-Fulton neighborhoods.

When officers responded to the home around 11:30 a.m., they learned an officer from the Cleveland State University Police Department responded to the home for a welfare check on a CSU employee who had not reported to work.

CSUPD discovered the front door appeared to have been forced open.

The suspect, in this case, is unknown, according to police.
