CLEVELAND — A 22-year-old man was found shot in the chest in a vacant lot in Cleveland’s Mt. Pleasant neighborhood Sunday and was later pronounced dead at the hospital, according to Cleveland police.

Police responded to the area near the 3600 block of East 138th Street for a man shot and down in a field, according to a news release from Cleveland police. Upon arrival, the man was found in a vacant lot.

Officers used first aid kits to provide aid to the victim until EMS arrived, police said. EMS took over care and transported the man, later identified by the medical examiner's office as John Cleggett, to University Hospitals where he was pronounced dead.

Members of Cleveland police's homicide unit responded to the scene to investigate. On scene, investigators learned the victim may have been involved in an argument with an unknown person when he was shot.

No suspect information is available at this time and the matter remains under investigation, police said.
