Authorities are asking for help with identifying a suspect who threatened a Family Dollar store employee with a knife.

The robbery happened on Oct. 24 at a store located at 7415 Superior Ave., in Cleveland's St. Clair-Superior neighborhood.

According to a Cleveland police report, a store employee noticed a garbage bag filled with merchandise at the back of the store. The employee told police that when he tried to inspect the bag's contents, he was confronted by the suspect who threatened to pull out a knife.

When the employee yelled for someone to call the police, the report states the suspect brandished a knife. The suspect fled when the store employee attempted to draw a firearm he was legally carrying.

Family Dollar store officials have offered a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the suspect.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Cleveland Police Department.
