Man in his 50s shot, killed on Cleveland's east side

Cleveland police had their hands full Saturday afternoon as they responded to multiple shootings throughout the city.

A 16-year-old boy was shot in the leg Saturday afternoon on Cleveland’s east side, according to police.

The shooting occurred around 12:20 p.m. on the 2230 block of East 80th Street, police. said. 

Officials said the teen may have been injured in a possible drive-by shooting.

The boy was transported to University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center. His condition is not known at this time.

A short time later a 50-year-old man was shot on the city’s east side around 2 p.m.

The man was shot near the corner of Sophia Avenue and East 92nd Street, according to police.  He was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition where he later died.

Cleveland police originally reported another shooting on Alpine Street but later confirmed that was connected to the East 92nd Street shooting. 

Police have not named suspects in the shootings and have not said if they are connected.
