Police say a 63-year-old man was speeding when he crashed his car on Kinsman Avenue Monday evening, sustaining fatal injuries.

According to Cleveland police, 63-year-old Clifton Jenkins was driving a 2012 Honda Civic eastbound on Kinsman Avenue near East 77th Street well in excess of the 35 mph speed limit when he lost control and struck a utility pole.

The car continued out of control, hitting another utility pole and then colliding with a 2013 Kia Optima.

Jenkins was pronounced dead at the scene. The 55-year-old female driver of the other car was treated and released at MetroHealth Medical Center.
