Police investigate homicide witnessed by several on Cleveland's East Side

CLEVELAND — Police are investigating a homicide that occurred on Cleveland’s East Side Saturday night, according to Cleveland police.

Around 10:24 p.m., officers were called to East 38th Street and Longwood Avenue in Cleveland’s Central neighborhood, police said.

Once on scene, officers found a 21-year-old man who had been shot multiple times lying in the street surrounded by a crowd of people, according to police.

Officers administered first aid until EMS arrived and transported the man to a nearby hospital where he later died from his injuries, police said.

Police learned on the scene that there was a large group of people hanging out on the street and witnesses saw two men approach the victim. Immediately after the two men approached, witnesses heard shots fired and saw the two men enter a dark-colored older-style van and flee the scene, according to police.
