Police closed the portion of East 55th Street while they investigated the shooting.
The 22-year-old driver was transported to MetroHealth Medical Center where police say he later expired. The passenger suffered cuts to his face when shattered glass flew through the vehicle.
Police have not made any arrests for the shooting. Witnesses on the scene told News 5 that the man who was killed was a postal worker and had his uniform on under his jacket.
The man who police say opened fire is described as a black man in his 20s, who was seen driving a small blue vehicle.
