The St. Augustine Hunger Center in Tremont is getting ready to serve thousands of Thanksgiving meals to those in need.

Organizers say they plan on serving more than 20,000 meals and are still looking for volunteers to make deliveries throughout Thanksgiving Day.

St. Augustine Church is also accepting cash donations and canned goods to help provide hat meals to the needy this holiday season.

“Things like potatoes, yams, beans those kinds of things we’re a little low on,” said Sister Corrita St. Augustine Hunger Center Director. "You have to remember we don’t just serve on Thanksgiving. We serve three meals a day five days a week and twice on Saturday and Sunday, so anything we get goes a long way.

Volunteers at St. Augustine’s will start serving meals at 8 a.m. Thanksgiving day at their Tremont location.
