CLEVELAND — A 21-year-old man has been identified as the suspect charged for the fatal shooting of a 6-year-old girl in Cleveland's South-Colinwood neighborhood in October.

According to Cleveland Municipal Court records, the suspect, 21-year-old Raysean Howard, has been charged with aggravated murder.

The shooting happened Oct. 5, in the 1300 block of East 171st Street.

An arrest warrant filed Nov. 13 states that 6-year-old Lyric Melodi Lawson was asleep inside a home when Howard allegedly opened fire with a rifle and the residence was riddled with bullets.

One of the bullets that tore through the house struck Lyric in the head. The girl was taken to a nearby hospital and later pronounced dead.

Court documents state that Howard has previous criminal charges including drug abuse and drug paraphernalia.

Earlier this year, he also previously pleaded guilty to attempted drug trafficking and attempted drug possession.
