CLEVELAND — Cleveland police are investigating after an 18-year-old Bedford man died after being found shot inside a car on Cleveland's East Side late Sunday night, according to a police report.
Maleek Wherry-Muhammad, 18, of Bedford, was found inside a Chevy Cruz by officers who responded to 3877 East 142nd Street for a male shot inside a vehicle. He was later identified by the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office,
On scene, police learned Wherry-Muhammad’s vehicle had crashed into parked vehicles. He was taken to University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center by EMS and placed on life support.
Police said there are no reported witnesses to the actual shooting. Residents who spoke to officers on scene reported hearing a gunshot and Wherry-Muhammad’s vehicle was seen rolling into parked cars, according to the report.
On Monday, Cleveland homicide unit was notified that Wherry-Muhammad had been pronounced dead at the hospital.
