CLEVELAND — It was a deadly and violent holiday in Cleveland. Police are investigating a homicide on Parkview Avenue in the city’s Woodland Hills neighborhood and eight separate shootings that happened in a span of 24 hours.

Deadly shooting

Cleveland police are investigating a shooting that killed a 27-year-old man on Friday. At around 3 a.m., police responded to the 11100 block of Parkview Avenue after they received a 911 hang-up call. The man was found in the street with multiple gunshot wounds. Officers on scene learned the man was found by people inside a car driving down the street. Neighbors reported hearing multiple gunshots. EMS transported the man to University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, where he died from his injuries. Anyone with information about this shooting is asked to contact police at 216-623-5464.

Fourth of July shootings:

Independence Day was marred by shootings across the city, from Cleveland’s Detroit-Shoreway neighborhood on the West Side to the Cleveland’s Corlett neighborhood on the East Side.

A shooting at around 8 p.m.in the 2050 block of West 93rd Street left a 21-year-old man with a gunshot wound to both of his legs. He was taken by EMS to MetroHealth Medical Center for treatment. Police haven’t released any further information.

At 11 p.m. in the 12600 block of Benwood Avenue in Cleveland’s Corlett neighborhood, a 32-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound to his chest. He was taken to University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, where his condition is unknown at this time.

The final shooting on the evening of Independence Day happened at around 11:30 p.m. near the I-90 and Martin Luther King Jr. ramp. A 23-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound to his chest. Police say the shooting may have occurred on London Avenue. The victim was taken by EMS to University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center where his condition is unknown at this time.

Friday shootings

Two more shootings happened early Friday morning.

The first shooting happened at around 1:45 a.m. in the 2500 block of 2500 MetroHealth Drive. A 23-year-old man was shot in the leg. Police say the shooting may have occurred near West 30th Street and Denison Avenue. He was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center for treatment.

The second one happened at around 4 a.m. in the 580 block of East 109th Street. A 35-year-old man was found with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center for treatment.

Hit-skip:

A 49-year-old female pedestrian was struck by an unknown vehicle near East 82nd Street and Superior Avenue at around 3 a.m. Police didn’t release any further information.
