CLEVELAND — Cleveland police are investigating after a 57-year-old man was shot, killed and run over on the city's east side on Sunday evening.

Police responded to the 8500 block of Force Avenue in the South Broadway neighborhood shortly before 7 p.m. for a pedestrian struck.

When officers arrived they found a man later identified by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner as 57-year-old Jerry Redmon, receiving medical treatment after he was shot twice in the abdomen, police said.

The man was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center where he died.

Officers later learned that shots were heard before witnesses saw the 57-year-old man get run over by a newer model SUV driven by an unknown woman, police said.

The shooting remains under investigation.
