WOOSTER, Ohio — A former Wayne County girls' soccer coach faces prison time after pleading guilty to four counts of sexual battery and one count of attempted sexual battery involving a teen that prosecutors said Tim Boggs coached.
In a court filing, a prosecutor explained Boggs was the teen's club soccer coach and private instructor and that the 51-year-old used that to facilitate a sexual relationship with the girl.
In a request for bond filed with the Wayne County Court of Common Pleas last March, the prosecutor wrote that Boggs posed a "risk of harm to other students in the community."
Boggs was arrested weeks after he resigned his position as girls soccer coach at Northwestern Local Schools.
The district previously said there were no misconduct allegations against Boggs in his years working for the district.
Under the terms of a plea deal, if a judge sentences Boggs to prison time, the maximum he'll face is 3.5 years behind bars.
He will also have to register as a sex offender.
Wayne County Prosecutor Angela Wypasek declined to comment on what is called a pending criminal matter.
But in court, the state told the judge the victim in the case agreed with the plea deal and the maximum time Boggs could face under it.
Boggs will remain in the Wayne County jail until he's sentenced on Oct. 9.
His sentencing is just days after a judge scheduled a hearing to discuss Boggs' wife's request for a divorce.
