CLEVELAND — Cleveland police responded last night to a report of an assault on the 1000 block of Prospect Avenue at 2:58 a.m. Tuesday, police said.
When officers arrived to the scene in the Gateway District, they found a 34-year-old man lying on the ground with serious injuries, police said.
Officers later found a 29-year-old male suspect. He was seen standing over the victim and was immediately arrested, police said.
Officers administered first aid to the victim on scene until EMS arrived and transported him to a local hospital, police said.
A preliminary investigation indicates that the 29-year-old was involved in an argument with another person. That's when the victim attempted to intervene and was assaulted, police said.
The suspect was taken into custody, and charges of felonious assault are pending, police said.
