CLEVELAND — Police are investigating a crime scene just blocks away from Progressive field.
Cleveland police responded to a report of an assault at 1012 Prospect avenue at 2:58 a.m. Tuesday, police said.
When officers arrived, they found a 34-year-old man lying on the ground with serious injuries, police said.
Officers later found a 29-year-old male suspect. He was seen standing over the victim and was immediately arrested for further investigating, police said.
Officers administered first aid to the victim on scene until EMS arrived and transported him to a local hospital, police said.
A preliminary investigation indicates that the 29-year-old was involved in an argument with another individual victim. That's when the victim attempted to intervene and was assaulted, police said.
The suspect was taken into custody and charges of felonious assault are pending, police said.
