ASHLAND COUNTY, Ohio — An Ashland County restaurant is suing the state after their license was suspended for not wearing masks.

Cattlemans Restaurant in Savannah has been shut down since the Ashland County Health Department issued a Cease and Desist Order on July 15.

News 5 reached out to the restaurant owner about the lawsuit and she responded with a link to the 1851 Center for Constitution Law of Columbus website.

The Ashland County Health Department released the following statement:

"In most situations, the Ashland County Health Department would not make any comments on open enforcement actions. However, in this instance, I would provide that the ACHD responded to three citizen complaints regarding this restaurant and has been working with Ms. Close since June. In addition to these complaint based responses, our health department has sent COVID-19 educational emails to our local restaurants. Cattleman's Restaurant was in receipt of these emails since May 11, 2020."
