The Ashland County Sheriff's Office announced Friday the sudden death of one of its sergeants.
On Thursday, Sgt. Timothy Kitts passed away unexpectedly at his home.
Kitts started with the sheriff's office on June 7, 1991. He has worked as a special deputy, dispatcher, corrections officer and a patrol deputy.
He was promoted to sergeant in 2001 and became a K9 handler in 2002.
When he died, he was serving with K9 Meeko.
According to the sheriff's office, Kitts has received numerous awards for his work.
Services are in the process of being planned.
