JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio — The Ashtabula Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating after a 59-year-old man died in a crash Monday, according to a release.

The crash happened at approximately 4:04 p.m. on Garrett Road, just south of State Route 167 in Ashtabula County.

Robert Lahman, 59, of Jefferson, was traveling southbound on Garrett Road in a Pontiac G-6 when he failed to maneuver around a curve, causing him to drive off the right side of the road, a preliminary investigation revealed.

He struck a ditch twice and ended back on the road, the release states.

Lahman was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities said alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
