BEDFORD, Ohio — Bedford Police are investigating after a woman was shot and killed in the AutoZone parking lot Monday morning.
The brazen shooting took place outside the store located on Broadway Avenue just after 10 a.m.
According to the Medical Examiner's Office, the victim, 20-year-old Riley Jones, was transported out of Bedford and died at South Pointe Hospital.
The shooting was witnessed by at least two 911 callers.
"He shot her, went inside and said, 'You better call 911,' and then he fled on foot," said Bedford deputy police chief Rick Suts.
According to police, 22-year-old Darien Hobley was taken into custody. He has been charged with aggravated murder and is being held on a $2 million bond, according to the Bedford Municipal Court.
"We caught him one street over from the auto parts store," said Suts.
Hobley was found on Leonard Avenue with blood on his clothing and was taken to the Solon Jail, the municipal court said. A 9mm firearm was found near the scene.
Police say Hobley and Jones knew each other.
Store employees witnessed them arguing in the parking lot, according to Suts.
