An 11-year-old boy was shot on Cleveland’s East Side late Thanksgiving evening after his family pulled to the side of the road with car troubles, according to police.

Police said the 11-year-old victim was riding with family members on Thanksgiving evening when their car overheated near East 154th Place and Holmes Avenue in the South-Collinwood neighborhood around 11 p.m.

While the car was pulled over, the family said they heard around six gunshots that sounded nearby and the boy yelled that he had been shot, according to police.

The boy was transported to University Hospitals with a gunshot wound to the left knee, police said.

The boy's condition has not been given and no suspects have been identified at this time.
