Cleveland police are investigating a shooting after a man was killed on Cleveland's east side early Sunday morning.
Officers responded to the 9300 block of Marah Avenue around 1:15 a.m. after reports of a man being shot.
When officers arrived at the scene, they noticed Juantez Anderson, 28, of Cleveland, was lying unresponsive in the street near the 9400 block of Marah Avenue.
Emergency crews administered first aid before taking Anderson to University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
While at the scene, officers learned Anderson was playing basketball in the street on a portable basketball hoop when a dark colored SUV approached him.
A brief interaction between Anderson and the occupants of the SUV ensued before shots were fired at Anderson.
Police searched the area and were unable to locate the vehicle. No arrests have been made in connection to the fatal shooting.
Mayor Frank Jackson was with community members at Zion Methodist Church for an event he had previously planned prior to Anderson's death.
