Canada man charged with production of child porn after meeting minor at Rocky River Park

A Canadian man was charged with production of pornography after meeting with a teenage girl at a park in Rocky River Park, according to the Department of Justice.

Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents received a tip that Joseph Haggerty, 49, had been soliciting nude images from children. Agents say he flew to Cleveland from Toronto on Thursday and followed him upon his arrival to Linden Park in Rocky River.

At Linden Park, Haggerty met a girl, according to a criminal affidavit.

Authorities say Haggerty had a reservation at the Days Inn on Lake Avenue in Lakewood. The affidavit also states he was also carrying a bag with clothing, 12 condoms, a stuffed animal and a package of baby pacifiers.

The teenage girl Haggerty met in the park told agents she met him on Kik in December 2016 and then continued to communicate via Skype. She says calls would last hours and Haggerty would direct her to strip naked and engage in sexually explicit conduct.

Officials say the girl told her family she was going on a camping trip for the weekend. In reality, she planned to go to the Days Inn in Lakewood with Haggerty, according to the affidavit.

Upon the execution of search warrants at Haggerty's home, officials found nude images of the Ohio minor, contact information for a child in Texas, and evidence related to about five other victims.
