BEAVER COUNTY, Pa. — A Chagrin Falls family was involved in a fatal two-vehicle crash on the Pennsylvania Turnpike Saturday night.

A 2012 Subaru Outback was driving in the wrong direction along the PA Turnpike in Beaver County for around eight miles when it struck a 2018 Nissan Pathfinder nearly head-on around 11:30 p.m., police said.

The driver of the Subaru, later identified as 76-year-old William Paxton, suffered fatal injuries from the crash. His passenger, a 74-year-old woman, was flown to a nearby hospital, according to police.

The driver of the Nissan, later identified as 36-year-old Andrew Sworan of Chagrin Falls, also suffered fatal injuries from the crash. His passenger, a 40-year-old woman, along with two children ages four and five, were taken to St. Elizabeth Mercy Health Center in Youngstown.

The conditions of the passengers and children are unknown at this time.

The children were both in car seats and everyone involved was wearing a seatbelt, police said.
