SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio — Since the annual South Euclid Memorial Day Parade has been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, city officials have released a special video honoring veterans, first responders and essential workers.

The video features interviews with members of the city’s police and fire departments, veterans residents, videos and photos from past Memorial Day parade.

“Today we pay tribute to those who have served, are serving, and most importantly - those who have made the ultimate sacrifice while in service to our country,” said Mayor Georgine Welo in a news release. “On this Memorial Day, we call attention to the true meaning of our City's historic War Memorial (located near the entrance to the Euclid Creek Metroparks): that today and every day we should honor our fallen heroes, guard their legacies and recognize the sacrifices of all of our Veterans.”
