SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio — Firefighters battled a fire at a recently sold home in Shaker Heights early Wednesday morning.

The Shaker Heights Fire Chief said crews responded to the home around 3:35 a.m. at 3591 Lytle Road.

The house was vacant, but it was recently sold to a family who was getting ready to move into the house.

Firefighters were pouring water on the house for nearly two hours because the weather made it difficult to fight, according to the chief.

The fire chief said the roof of the house caved in and firefighters were still putting out hot spots as of 10:30 a.m.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and remains under investigation.
