Funeral arrangements have been announced for a Brush High School student who died suddenly this week after collapsing during hockey practice.

The funeral service for Alec Kornet will be held Monday Feb. 20 at 11:30 a.m. at the DeJohn – Flynn – Mylott Funeral Home of Willoughby Hills, located at 28890 Chardon Road.

The burial will take place at Lakeview Cemetery.

Friends can celebrate the life of Alec on Sunday from 2 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Alec's classmates have already been paying tribute to the 17-year-old.

On Thursday, students dressed in Cleveland Indians gear and walked the halls of the high school. They did the same Friday.

A memorial to Alec was displayed in the band room, which includes the snare drum he played with a bouquet of flowers.

A moment of silence is planned for the high school's basketball game Friday evening.

The Brush High School hockey team will play its sectional match on Saturday evening at Kent State University. The teams will participate in a moment of silence and the Brush team will wear black armbands and a black #4 sticker on the back of their helmets.

A large memorial banner will also be hung at Cleveland Heights Recreation Center, which is Brush High School’s home rink, dedicated to the memory of Alec.
