HEAP Summer Crisis Program extended to end of September for Cuyahoga County residents in need

CLEVELAND — The Council for Economic Opportunities Home Energy Assistance Summer Crisis Program (HEAP Summer Crisis Program) has been extended to September due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the program said.

The program assists Cuyahoga County residents in need with an electric bill payment or purchasing an air conditioning unit to help ease the burden of the summer heat.

To be eligible for assistance, Cuyahoga County residents must meet at least one of the following requirements:

Individuals with documented medical conditions or a diagnosis of coronavirus in 2020
Households with a household member who is age 60 or older
Customers who are enrolling in the Percentage of Income Payment Plan Plus (PIPP) for the first time or have a PIPP default
