A man was stabbed outside of his home after trying to stop a thief who he caught leaving his garage on Wednesday.
On Nov. 28, a man living on the 1300 block of West 76th Street in Cleveland’s Edgewater Hill neighborhood woke up to his security alarm going off, police said.
The man ran outside after seeing a man exiting his garage and attempted to stop him. The two men fell to the ground in a struggle due to ice on the ground, according to authorities.
During the struggle, the thief dropped the items he was attempting to steal and then stabbed the victim in the back with a hunting knife, police said.
The thief fled the scene, stealing a bright orange and blue raincoat which he was wearing as he fled.
The thief was caught on a security camera during the altercation and police are asking for help identifying the man. Anyone with information on the crime should call 216-623-5218.
The victim’s condition is unknown at this time.
