The westbound lanes of I-480 were shut down Wednesday afternoon for a 31-year-old man who climbed a fence on the Stearns Road overpass, then jumped on the freeway and was struck by a semi-truck that fled the scene.
The man, from Olmsted Township, died from his injuries, police said.
According to the North Olmsted Police Department, the man jumped into oncoming traffic and was hit by a semi with a white trailer. The highway was shut down while crews worked but it has since reopened.
Authorities haven't released the man's identity. A detailed description of the semi-truck was unavailable.
