A 6-year-old boy is dead after an apparent drowning at an Independence hotel.
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner reports the boy was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center from the hotel on Quarry Lane Saturday. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Independence police told newsnet5.com that the drowning is under investigation. Police did not say whether the death is considered suspicious.
According to the police report, the boy was at the hotel for a birthday party. The group did not realize the boy was drowning until an unidentified man pulled him from the water.
A lifeguard was not present at the time.
