PARMA, Ohio — The Parma Police Department wants residents to know that they are not calling people to collect money relating to an arrest warrant and such calls are scams.

The department said it will never contact residents over the phone to solicit money.

Residents are asked to be cautious of such calls and not to give out any personal or financial information to someone.

Recently, residents have reported suspicious phone calls from a man who refers to himself as Sergeant Dean Leon. The caller then asks for money to prevent an arrest warrant from being issued.

As always, if you ever have any questions about who you are talking to, you can call the Parma Police Department and find out if the person on the other end of the line is a legitimate officer.

The department can be reached at 440-885-1234.
