PEPPER PIKE, Ohio — A young driver is lucky to be alive on Thursday after he lost control of his car and crashed, according to a post from the Pepper Pike Police Department.

Police said a young man was traveling at a high rate of speed on Shaker Boulevard, just east of Lander Road, when he lost control of his vehicle causing him to hit a truck heading in the opposite direction.

The impact caused the driver to crash into a tree.

Police said he walked away with some minor injuries.

Authorities wanted to remind all drivers to slow down, even if that means you could be late.

"Getting a late slip is not worth losing your life over, or putting other driver’s lives at risk either. Slow down, wear your seat belt, and pay attention to the road," police said in the post.
