On Monday, riders from “Clevelanders for Public Transit” hosted a march and rally to demand funding for “frequent, affordable and reliable transit.”
The riders met at 5 p.m. at the RTA Headquarters at 1240 West 6th Street before marching to Public Square for a rally.
The group is calling on the RTA’s Board of Trustees to place a levy on the ballot in November. The group is also asking RTA to start a search for the replacement for RTA Chief Executive Officer, General Manager, Secretary and Treasurer Joe Calabrese, who is set to retire in 2020. Finally, the group is asking County Executive Armond Budish to use Cuyahoga County’s appointment to place a mass transit rider on the Board of Trustees.
