INDEPENDENCE, Ohio — A Cleveland woman was carjacked at gunpoint in the parking lot of Top Golf in Independence on Friday night.
Just before midnight, police responded to 5820 Rockside Woods Boulevard for a report of a vehicle stolen at gunpoint.
The 20-year-old woman told police that as she walked to her car parked in the southern lot near the building she was approached by two males who ran in front of her car, one of whom was holding a gun. They demanded that she hand over her car keys.
When the victim told them no, they threatened to shoot her. She handed over her car keys before she ran back to her friends who were still standing at the front doors of Top Golf.
Security footage from the parking lot showed the victim walking to her car when about five males could be seen walking from the southwest portion of the parking lot to the car. Two of the males could be seen confronting her before getting into the car, traveling southbound on Rockside Woods Boulevard. The other three males were seen running towards a neighboring hotel. Detailed descriptions of the males were not given in the police report.
At the time of the carjacking, the victim told police she had about $200 cash, her house keys, pepper spray and shoes inside the vehicle. The victim’s vehicle is a Hyundai Santa Fe, and it has a coat of paint missing on the front bumper and a small smudge near the gas tank.
Authorities have not announced any arrests in the case.
