Woman shot in head in Maple Heights; police searching for vehicle seen nearby

MAPLE HEIGHTS, Ohio — A 48-year-old woman was shot in the head while driving near the intersection of Clampher Road and Raymond Street in Maple Heights on Monday night, and police are looking for a small silver compact vehicle seen in the area at the time.

At about 9 p.m., Maple Heights police officers responded to a call for gunshots fired, according to a news release from police. They found a vehicle driven by the woman who was struck in the head by gunfire.

The woman was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, where a bullet fragment was removed, police stated. She was treated and released early Tuesday morning.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Maple Heights detectives collected evidence and interviewed witnesses, the release states. A small silver compact vehicle, possibly a Chevrolet, was seen in the area at the time of the shooting. There is no suspect description available.

Police are still investigating, and no arrests have been made at this time, officials said.
