8-year-old girl shot in the head remains in critical condition; police offering reward for information

EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio — An 8-year-old girl is in critical condition after she was shot in the head Sunday night, according to East Cleveland police.

Police responded to the 1800 block of Forest Hills Avenue in East Cleveland for a female child who was shot.

Neighbors on scene told News 5 that it looked like a drive-by shooting.

EMS transported the child to University Hospitals, where she was immediately taken to surgery and is currently in the Intensive Care Unit.

Police spent hours at the scene. Through their investigation, they learned the person allegedly responsible for the shooting is a 17-year-old male, who has been positively identified by police.

East Cleveland police are asking if you were in the area of 1846 Forest Hills Boulevard and have information relative to the shooting, to contact police at 216-681-2162.

Callers can remain anonymous. A $2,500 reward is available to anyone who has information that could lead to an arrest and conviction.

The investigation remains ongoing.
