Officers found and arrested overnight the uncle of a 7-year-old who was shot in Sandusky Sunday.
A police source told us the boy explained to police that his uncle accidentally shot him.
According to the source, the uncle, identified as 36-year-old Ervin Clinton, Jr., is a convicted felon who is currently on parole. He was not allowed to have any type of gun. Police do not believe the gun was stolen.
Ervin Clinton, Jr. is being charged with felony child endangering.
Jordy Clinton was shot at 219 Center Street. He was transported to Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital, according to the Erie County Sheriff's Office. A hospital spokesperson said he is in critical but stable condition.
The two men who live at the residence where the shooting happened said the boy shot himself with a gun he found in the attic. They said they did not know there was a gun there and have reached out to the landlord about it.
The men inside said the boy is a family friend and does not reside at the residence where the shooting happened.
