CLARIDON TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Crews responded to a fatal crash that occurred in Claridon Township Saturday.
A Ford F-450 dually pickup truck was traveling south on state Route 608 around 2:49 p.m.
At the same time, a 2009 Volkswagen Passat was traveling east on Chardon-Windsor Road. The driver of the Volkswagen failed to stop for the stop sign at the intersection, pulled out in front of the Ford and was struck on the driver side, troopers said.
The driver of the Volkswagen was ejected from the vehicle and died as a result of her injuries, according to troopers.
The front passenger and three boys who were in the back seat of the Volkswagen were transported to nearby hospitals. The children have all been treated and released, troopers said.
Troopers said neither the driver nor the passenger of the Volkswagen were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
