Painesville police are investigating after a 16-year-old boy was shot and killed last night.
A news release posted on the police department’s Facebook page says the boy was shot in the 500 block of Mentor Avenue around 9:37 p.m.
The initial investigation revealed the teen died of his injuries. His identity has not been released.
Detectives are questioning several acquaintances of the 16-year-old who were present at the time of the shooting.
The Ohio Bureau of Investigation is assisting Painesville police detectives with the investigation.
