Crash closes I-90 westbound near Painesville

LAKE COUNTY, Ohio — Interstate 90 westbound is closed between SR-528 and Vrooman Road near Painesville in Lake County Friday afternoon because of a crash, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation.

Poor visibility along I-90 in Lake County resulted in several vehicles going off the road, according to ODOT. The speed limits between SR-44 and SR-528 has been reduced to 30 mph.

ODOT is suggesting motorists use an alternate route.

Traffic cameras in the area show traffic is backed up and there is significant snowfall in the area of the crash.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory in Lake County and the lakeshore areas of Ashtabula County due to lake effect snow and gusting winds. The area could see total accumulations of 4 to 6 inches with winds gusting as high as 35 mph.
