LEROY TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A driver was hospitalized with serious injuries after a crash in LeRoy Township, located in Lake County, on Sunday.

State troopers from the Chardon Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded at around 4 p.m. to a single-vehicle crash on I-90 near milepost 209 in LeRoy Township.

They say a 2005 Dodge Caravan was traveling eastbound on I-90 when it drove into the median and crossed over into the westbound lanes.

The Caravan struck a guardrail before hitting a tree, where it caught on fire.

Another driver in the area helped the driver out of the vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle that crashed was transported to MetroHealth Medical Center for serious injuries.

The OSHP said impairment is suspected as a factor in the crash.
