EASTLAKE, Ohio — A man was arrested after he broke into a woman’s apartment while she was asleep in her bed Monday, according to the Eastlake Police Department.
Officers responded to the Clearwater Apartments on Curtis Boulevard after receiving a 9-1-1 call from a woman, police said.
The woman locked herself in her bathroom after a man, identified by the woman as 52-year-old Kyle Barnard, entered her apartment through her bedroom window, according to police.
Barnard, also a resident of Clearwater Apartments, loudly knocked on the bathroom door before fleeing through the front door of the apartment, police said.
Once on scene, officers were unable to locate Barnard so a K-9 search of the area was conducted. A K-9 officer picked up Barnard’s scent in a nearby parking lot and officers found him in the backseat of a vehicle hiding under a blanket, according to police.
Barnard was arrested and charged with burglary and criminal damaging. He is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 15, according to court records.
