LAKE COUNTY, Ohio — The Lake Humane Society rescued 161 cats on Friday.
The shelter executed a search warrant in Concord Township at a home known as “Caroline’s Kids Pet Rescue & Sanctuary.”
They received a complaint from a concerned citizen about the conditions of the cats and the facility they were living in.
When they arrived, the agent and veterinarian observed unsanitary conditions and determined that most of the cats were critical in critical condition.
Nearly 50 dead cats were removed from the property and 161 live cats were transported to the shelter to receive treatment for various things such as URI (Upper Respiratory Infection), Panleukopenia, Stomatitis, fleas, and Ringworm.
The case will be reviewed for possible criminal charges by the Lake Humane Society prosecutors.
