Eight mallard ducklings were rescued from a storm sewer, compliments of Mentor firefighter Ben Boatwright.
The new hatchlings were transported from the sewer near a Holiday Inn and reunited with their mother, who was waiting in a pond nearby, according to Mentor Fire Department.
Boatwright was hailed as "firefighter/paramedic/duck rescue specialist" on the fire department's Facebook page following the rescue.
Facebook friend Debra Demeo was among the voices that praised Boatwright for his feat, stating, "Way to go Ben you will make a good papa some day."
Jen Szydlowski Aldridge expressed a different sentiment, "Hmmmmm..... You saving them to hunt them later, Ben???"
