A Mentor man is in custody after allegedly killing his girlfriend during a domestic dispute early Thursday morning.
The incident happened around 2:30 a.m. on the 8340 block of South Villa Marina Court. Police responded after the man contacted the department and said he killed his girlfriend.
Police said Kristen Laux, 35, was pronounced dead on scene. It appears she had been assaulted and stabbed, according to police.
The suspect, 38-year-old Russell Fritz, surrendered to police and was charged with one count of murder.
Fritz is being held in lieu of a $1 million bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on May 24.
