One person was killed in a crash that closed the exit ramp from State Route 2 eastbound to State Route 44 southbound Sunday afternoon.

According to the Lake County Sheriff's Office, a grey 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by a 59-year-old Huron man was traveling from State Route 2 toward State Route 44. As the vehicle exited State Route 2, the vehicle went off the left side of the ramp before re-entering the ramp and crossing to the right shoulder.

The SUV then overturned completely.

The passenger, identified as 57-year-old Michael Corrigan of Painesville, was ejected from the vehicle and thrown approximately 30 feet.

No other vehicles were involved.

Both men were transported to TriPoint Medical Center for treatment. The driver was then transported to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland via Life Flight.

Corrigan died from his injuries.

According to the sheriff's office, alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.
