A woman is charged in the drowning of two children at a daycare center in Pittsfield Township.
On October 5, 2016, two children, both under the age of 2, got into a swimming pool at the home of 48-year-old Elizabeth Zenda. The residence on West Road was being operated as a daycare at the time of the drowning.
Zenda administered CPR to the children until the Wellington Fire and Rescue units arrived. One child died from the drowning, and the second child is currently recovering.
On Monday, Zenda turned herself into the Lorain County Sheriff's Office where she is charged with one count of involuntary manslaughter and two counts of child endangering. Her bond is set at $75,000.
