A man was killed in a Taco Bell drive-thru on Sunday, according to Lorain police.

Just after 11 p.m., Lorain police said, a man was killed in a "possible botched" robbery attempt in a Taco Bell drive-thru, located at 3671 Oberlin Ave.

The victim was identified by police as 49-year-old Robert Gnizak, of Lorain.

Gnizak's friends told NewsChannel 5 he was helping a friend with their Sunday paper route, stopping at Taco Bell before heading out. He was ordering food when a man ran up to his car.

The man took what he could, shot Gnizak and ran off. Gnizak was found laying dead in the drive-thru when police arrived.

Lorain police Captain Watkins described the suspect as a black male, around 6 foot tall, wearing a yellow or tan shirt, and khaki or tan pants. The suspect was seen fleeing on foot from the crime scene.

Police say the victim was not a Taco Bell employee.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact the Lorain Police Detective Bureau at 440-204-2105.
